Brandon Arens

Financial Advisor

614-595-6488

brandon.arens@ffgadvisors.com

Brandon has lived in Columbus, Ohio practically his entire life. He attended St. Brigid of Kildare Elementary School and then Bishop Watterson high school. Upon graduation, he attended The University of Cincinnati and dual majored in Finance and Real Estate. At UC, he spent his first two years studying to become a doctor while playing hockey for the University.

From a young age, Brandon has always had an entrepreneurial itch, so during his summer breaks he started a landscaping company which allowed him to see the benefits of owning your own business. Upon returning to school, Brandon decided he wanted to pursue a career in business instead of medicine. Still with a desire to help people, Brandon settled on Finance with a focus on Financial Planning, he decided that if he can’t help people fix their health, he can help them fix the next best thing, their relationship with money.

Brandon started his career at Principal Financial Group in 2021, where he focused on protecting people’s greatest asset – their income. He was actively involved at The Ohio State University working with new Residents and Fellows to select appropriate Disability coverage. However, Brandon knew that there was more that he could do as a Financial Planner and did not like how transactional the insurance side of the business had become. So, he started to lay the foundation for a shift to a new firm.

Brandon settled into First Financial Group in October of 2023, where he works by utilizing a team approach to deliver custom-tailored financial strategies to his clients. Brandon prefers this over solo work because two sets of eyes are always better than one. At First Financial Group he has all the tools necessary to lead clients up and down the financial mountain.

BRIAN LAROCHE, RICP®, ChFEBC ℠

President and Financial Advisor, LaRoche Wealth Management

757-498-1911

brian@larochewealth.com

Those who know Brian LaRoche appreciate both his love for education and his desire to help others. Brians intense focus, deeply analytical mind, and commitment to the well-being of his clients are well suited to his career choice as a financial planner. Through education, Brian seeks to replace clients apprehension about the future with knowledge, translate that knowledge into action, and thereby help them take control of their future.

Brian entered the financial services industry in 1993 after obtaining a degree in Finance from Virginia Tech. He started out with Combined Insurance Company of America, founded by the great American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and thought leader, W. Clement Stone. Intelligent, driven, and a hard worker, Brian sought the guidance of valuable mentors whose success he could model. Following their lead, he quickly rose to the top of his profession winning numerous accolades for his achievements.

Throughout his journey across the rapidly changing financial services landscape, Brian would repeatedly be faced with clients who were unsure about the impact of their current decisions on future outcomes. This only served to strengthen his resolve to perfect a rigorous financial planning methodology that would deliver true value through education.

He was his own very first client and then, just to be sure, he put his parents through his process. More than a decade later, time has validated his meticulous approach. The result: a successful financial services practice which continues to grow mostly through the referrals it garners from a comprehensive educational process, incisive insights, and unparalleled commitment to customer service. Consumers have more access to information than ever, he says, and my role is not to sell, but rather to educate them so that they can make informed buying decisions.

Outside of work, Brian can be found on his boat surrounded by family and friends, playing golf at Broad Bay Country Club, and actively supporting Toby's Dream Foundation and Roc Solid Foundation.

A native of Virginia Beach, Brian continues to reside there with his loved ones; Suzanne and his daughter.

I am a financial coach and Brand Ambassador with Matson Money. I am committed to saving families from speculating and gambling with their hard-earned money by providing ongoing coaching, tools, and breakthrough education around Nobel Prize winning, empirically tested academic investing principles. I'm a member of my local Chamber of Commerce and Business Networking International (BNI) group.

Outside of work, I'm a past president and current trustee of my local library. As an avid reader, I have had the distinct pleasure of being part of a book club (and friendship circle) for 28 years. My monthly dinner group, Women Listen to Women, raises funds for charity.

I work out to retain my sanity, not to mention to eat ice cream! I was just nominated for my high school's sports hall of fame, as my hurdles records from 45 years ago still stand! I placed second in New York State in the 100 meter hurdles my junior year, and I was in the right place at the right time to be coached by Brooks Johnson, a track and field coach of the women's Olympic team.

I am a breast cancer survivor.

I can't tell a joke, but I'm a great audience -- I love to laugh!

I love making memories with my husband, children and grandchildren, even doing ordinary activities like boating around the Thousand Islands, hiking, and making s'mores around a bonfire. My husband and I both hail from big families, so holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries are always excuses for big, fun gatherings.

I'm a sports fan -- I grew up on Notre Dame football, as my dad is an alumnus. The best things about sports are that nobody can buy success; you have to put in the work and perform when it counts. Nothing is more fun than being in a stadium full of cheering fans when your team is doing well. Ditto for cheering a good live band like Fleetwood Mac or Springsteen!

I love what I've been called to do, both professionally and personally.

Professionally: I provide my clients with agency and access to discovering freedom around their finances. We do this through defining their "True Purpose for Money". It's critical to understand the relationship between Money and Mind. Our brains were created for survival, and navigating the "World of Money" by our own instincts and emotions (not to mention the multiplier given through the chaos of The Media), without a Financial Coach, having mastery over finances can seem almost impossible.
With heavy emphasis on protecting and perpetuating Cash Flow and wholistic Financial Organization, we are able to increase the probability of maximizing a client's financial potential. All this, while helping them avoid making Uncle Sam their largest charitable donation.

Personally: I'm a husband and father to an incredible family. I'm eternally grateful that the Lord has entrusted me with leading them. I love the outdoors: golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, etc. I'm a CrossFit guy, but you didn't hear that from me... Black Labs are the best dogs on earth. Pineapple goes on pizza. I'd love a chance to get to meet you!

ckwartner@financialguide.com

Cliff Kwartner was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Plainview on Long Island. He attended Towson University, where he began his career in financial services as a producer with National Life of Vermont. He built his business primarily through strategic relationships, laying the foundation for a referral-driven approach that still defines his work today.

Coming from a family-owned business background, Cliff developed a deep respect for entrepreneurs. Growing up, watching how hard his father worked with little time for anything else, taught Cliff how to effectively communicate with business owners. Be direct, be efficient, and build the relationship on trust.

Cliff later joined MassMutual to work with his mentor George Kinigopoulos, who told him, “You’re working in the minor leagues—it’s time to join the majors.” Within a few years, Cliff worked his way up to Brokerage Director, growing an important piece of the agency that had been previously overlooked. He worked with independent advisors, banks, CPA firms, and benefits companies to integrate MassMutual’s solutions on to their platforms. His passion to help businesses grow, and his motivation to identify and recruit successful advisors, have been the greatest drivers of his success.

Cliff has been married to his wife Sarah for 10 years. He’s a proud dad to two boys, Ben (8) and Ethan (5), a lifelong sports fan, golf enthusiast, and movie buff. Cliff believes if you’re not having fun doing what you do, you’re in the wrong business. As he steps into a larger leadership role, he’s tapping into his familiar “high energy”, to keep building and helping advisors, business owners, and families change their lives. Those are your Cliff Notes.

I became a Financial Advisor so I could help individuals and businesses do everything in their power never to suffer financial failure. My main goal is to eliminate the worries and stress of “what could derail my success?” in my clients' lives, and help guide them toward a better financial future.

Prior to joining First Financial Group, I worked in business accounting and finance. I gained practical, firsthand experience in how overwhelming it can be to operate a business, and how intertwined your business finances are with your personal finances. Using this knowledge, I help individuals create a cohesive network to ensure their individual and business finances work toward the same goals. Going beyond personal success, I also help in areas like maximizing employee benefits, tax and risk mitigation, executive benefits, retirement plans, income protection, key person strategy, and much more to help achieve your goals.

My home is Virginia Beach, where my family has been for several generations. They have owned a local business for the last fifty years, so I know all too well the trials and tribulations that come with owning a business. Outside of the office, I love to spend time outdoors, so you will most likely find me playing golf, fishing, hunting, or enjoying time with friends. I am an active member in the Old Dominion University and Cape Henry Collegiate Alumni Associations, where I enjoy giving back to those communities. I am an active member of London Bridge Baptist Church, and several volunteer organizations in the area.

I have strategic partnerships with several attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals in the financial space to help you with whatever you may need!

Your needs, circumstances, and desires evolve over time, and everyone deserves a trusted circle of experts around them, committed to their growth, prosperity, and protection at every turn.

We help people build a solid foundation for their lives and the generations after them because a good life doesn't have to happen by chance; it happens by design.

Prior to joining First Financial Group, I gained a wealth of experience working at financial services organizations, government agencies, and entrepreneurial incubators, holding leadership roles at Capital One, the General Services Administration (GSA), and SEED SPOT. I also started a non-profit focused on advocating for high-quality STEM education and helped co-found the Washington Leadership Academy, a public charter high school in Washington, D.C.

These experiences taught me how to develop systems to create things that last, no matter the starting point. I aim to use those same lessons to help my clients craft legacies that will stand the test of time.

The power of proper planning, combined with proven systems and guardrails, helps ensure that the future you want is always in your control. Working with me is a partnership where I help you reach the future you want more reliably and faster than you could on your own. My goal is to become a lifetime resource for every client I serve, as I am dedicated to making a difference in people's lives.

I help individuals and business owners make confident financial decisions by bringing clear structure to their entire financial picture.

Most uncertainty around money comes from decisions being made in isolation. My role is to provide a framework that allows clients to step back, see the full landscape, and understand how each decision fits into the bigger picture so choices are made deliberately rather than reactively.

Every client’s situation is unique. Goals, priorities, and circumstances differ, which is why strategies are built around what matters most to each individual or business owner. The focus is on clarity, coordination, and thoughtful decision making, so actions are taken intentionally rather than out of pressure or urgency.

The result is a flexible, structured process that empowers clients to understand their options, evaluate trade offs, and move forward with confidence as their lives and businesses evolve.

I tell my prospects I will be the most conservative advisor they may find. I will help them earn money on their investments while minimizing their losses when possible.

Eight months after the sudden death at 58 of my father, a blue collar worker with $10,000 of life insurance, I became an insurance agent. I didn't want that financial tragedy to follow on anyone, and I have dedicated my career to trying to help people avoid a similar fate.

While serving in the Navy in 1971, I broke my back and spent 90 days in 100% bed rest in Newport Naval Hospital. This experience afforded me lots of time to think about what I was going to do next, and I decided then and there to go to college and make something out of myself. Because of my disability I went to college full time for seven years, paid for by the VA. I met my wife, Cindy, at Syracuse University, which is something I never could have paid for.

I feel like Lou Gehrig, the luckiest guy in the world. I have a great family, wonderful children, and a super wife. I spend four months of each year on a third-generation family home on Cape Cod. I love what I do.

Gerald Radican

Founding Partner & Wealth Advisor, Veritas Financial

703-729-0655

gradican@vfwealth.com

Back in college, if you had asked Gerald Radican if he could imagine a career in the financial services industry, the instant response would have been a resounding “no!” Yet in the summer of his junior year, Gerald was offered an internship to work with his brother-in-law, who was then building a financial planning practice in the Washington, D.C. area. Little did Gerald know at the time that his brother-in-law had a hunch he would be good at this business – and that there really was no internship program. “He thought, if I only got a taste of it, I might like it and stay,” laughs Gerald.

That hunch proved to be right on the mark: Gerald was a natural fit, and was licensed as a broker even before he graduated from college. “It was truly a great decision to get into this business and to this day, I am thankful for the guidance I received,” he says.

Now in its third decade of operation, Gerald’s financial planning practice continues to thrive. He attributes the strength of his practice to a commitment to building long term relationships with his clients. “If I can provide suitable advice and excellent service that gets people closer to their financial goals, I’m doing my job,” he says.

Gerald assists clients with diverse needs, ranging from wealth management and financial planning to personal life insurance and executive benefits. Clients experience a comprehensive approach offered through the partners at Veritas Financial, while taking advantage of Gerald’s particular subject matter expertise in risk management and his personal attention to their specific needs. “I help my clients address the financial issues in their lives that they know they should, but for any number of reasons don’t have the time or desire to,” Gerald explains.

Gerald earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Radford University. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Greater Washington Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Outside of work, Gerald enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and coaching sports. He resides in Lansdowne, Virginia, with his wife, Michele, and their two children.

Originally from Smithfield, VA, I moved to Washington, DC to attend Howard University where I received my BBA in Finance. Upon graduation, I accepted a position with the Freddie Mac. In order to satisfy my desire to further my education, I decided to pursue my MBA. Two years later I returned to Howard University where I earned a MBA with a Concentration in Finance.

Following the completion of my MBA, I accepted a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Washington Federal Practice. jameson.lett@ffgadvisors.com

Jameson Lett is a Financial Advisor with a practice based in Columbus, Ohio. He loves the challenge in honing his craft and all of the unique clients he gets to work with. But the path to get to where he is today was less than conventional.

Weary of the traditional advisory model with its narrow focus and cookie-cutter advice, Jameson graduated from The Ohio State University and chose a different path: He spent 5 years working with people with developmental disabilities to help them achieve meaningful employment and community engagement. The work was never boring and elicited its own reward, but Jameson saw the way that thoughtful financial planning could drastically enhance people’s lives, particularly when medical complexities were part of the equation. Unable to shake the entrepreneurial itch, he began laying the foundation for his future business in 2012. Through the help of others and with a healthy mix of creativity and grit, Jameson launched his practice in the early Spring of 2013.

Over the years Jameson has developed and refined a planning process that helps people see their financial world in a way they often never have before. Today he is proud to run a comprehensive planning practice that delivers custom-tailored strategies to other business owners, investors, aspiring entrepreneurs, and the many other professionals and families that make it all possible. Best of all, Jameson is still fortunate to advocate for people with developmental disabilities. In addition to working with the families and businesses that operate in this space, Jameson also serves on the board of directors for I Am Boundless, one of the largest and fastest growing service-providers in Ohio.

Joe Kennedy, ChFC®, CExP

Financial Advisor, The Z Group

(770) 536-1760

jkennedy@startwithZ.com

Joe Kennedy is the co-founder of The Z Group, where he helps business owners and high earners rethink what’s possible with their money. His approach starts where most financial advice stops—by asking the questions most people don’t even know to ask.

With over a decade of experience, Joe rejects the rigidity of static strategies and outdated assumptions. In his view, real planning should evolve with real life—and it should always begin with the end in mind. That’s why he collaborates with clients to build flexible, forward-thinking strategies designed to help unlock limitless opportunities—not just help them survive uncertainty. At The Z Group, plans Start with Z—because we believe clarity about where you're going fuels confidence in the decisions you make today.

He’s on a mission to transform uncertainty into opportunity—replacing confusion with clarity and helping clients move with purpose in a world full of unknowns.

A proud Georgia native, Joe lives in Gainesville with his wife, Angie, their son Peter, and their cockapoo, Bubs. He graduated from Oglethorpe University, where he balanced life on the basketball court with success in the classroom. These days, the basketball shoes stay in the closet (his knees send their thanks). When he and Angie are not traveling or discovering new restaurants, you can find him golfing for reading a good book.

Specializing in Helping to Preserve the Financial Integrity of the Family!

I build long-term relationships with my clients and guide them to reach their full financial potential. Through financial education, I help clients develop effective strategies to help make their family’s financial goals, dreams and desires come to fruition. Products do not solve problems, strategies do.

What do you see? What don’t you see? Most of life’s accidents and unintended consequences come from the things we do not see and do not know. I help my clients see what is actually happening to their money, and to uncover the truth about how money works in financial products and the economy, so they can make the right decisions and create the right strategies for themselves.

I am passionate about helping and being a resource for others. I have seen a lot of financial ruins in my life, because people either received bad advice, lack of planning or had intentions to do something, but never did. I want to prevent people from making the same mistakes others have made before them.

Misha Schryer

Financial Services Professional

303-319-5770

misha.schryer@ffgadvisors.com

Misha's journey began over 33 years ago, stepping into the world of financial services with a brief stint at a major agency. However, that initial encounter left her disillusioned, perceiving financial advisors as mere salespeople driven by profit motives. This experience ignited a fire within her to reshape the industry's image and practices.

In 2013, Misha's perspective underwent a profound shift. She discovered her true calling in working with clients, embracing a holistic methodology that considers every facet of their financial well-being. Yet, her divergence from conventional investment practices persisted. It wasn't until 2015 that she encountered Matson Money, a revelation that aligned with her values. The academic and thoughtful approach to investing presented by Matson marked a turning point in her career.

Embracing Matson Money's principles, Misha ventured into the role of a Matson coach in 2017. Guided by the academic underpinnings of investing, she helped clients make informed decisions rather than speculating in a tumultuous market. Taking a bold step in 2018, Misha broke away from the confines of a large firm, establishing her own Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) practice. This move allowed her to better serve her clients' unique needs and aspirations.

Now collaborating with Valent Wealth, Misha is thrilled to enhance her clients' financial journeys by offering an expanded array of options and services. As a devoted Matson Coach, she is excited to be able to work alongside a dedicated team that shares her unwavering commitment to academic investing principles.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Misha is a proud Denver resident who is married and is Mom to exceptional girls; her 14-year-old daughter and 13-year-old bonus-daughter. Her diverse passions mirror her multifaceted approach to life: from boxing to roller skating, scuba diving to nurturing her delightful menagerie of animals.

Why do most Americans struggle in climbing up AND down the financial mountain, when we live in the most free and prosperous country in the world?

This is a question that I have often contemplated over the past 20 years, during a very diverse career in the financial services industry. While I can't give you the exact answer, perhaps I can share my beliefs and some insights of what I've learned...

I believe the deck is stacked against the typical American, as it relates to their own financial pursuits. Actually, when you think about it, that’s true in most areas of our lives. I believe it takes a different and uncommon approach to overcome the heavy obstacles and strong headwinds that exist today. We must challenge our own belief systems – especially as it relates to the status quo of traditional wealth accumulation and distribution strategies. To get ahead, it is OUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY to educate and expose ourselves to the complex rules, risks, secrets and hidden traps governing the financial and economic world that we now live in. This cannot be done alone and we must find others that we can absolutely TRUST to walk along with us on our journey.

The good news is it's not as complicated as it appears!

Wealth Management Advisor, Real Randy Jones

randy.jones@ffgadvisors.com

As a combat medic, I was once told “Medicine is not designed to heal you. It is designed to “sustain” you.”  When it comes to finances, the information you receive is not designed to create Financial Freedom, but Financial Maintenance.

Most Financial Advisors say, “Give me some money and I’ll show you how to make it grow.”  However, have you ever heard of anyone, on their death bed, ask: “How much money is in my account?”  The main thing people care about is: who I loved and who loved me; What difference did I make in someone’s life and who made a difference in mine?

Every person I meet, has a financial advisor of some sort from some background.  They give advice like puzzle pieces, then you have to figure out how all the pieces fit together to create the “Big Picture” called your life.

I’ve been in the Finance industry for 26 years. As a Wealth Management Advisor at a financial services company, I have access to all the same products and programs as any other financial advisor, but that’s not why people come to me.

They come to me for a PLAN. My plans are Not in a leather-bound book that you put on a shelf in hopes of reading someday. They are Plans that you can LIVE and they Change and Grow with you and your family.

In life, you have other Assets that mean more to you than money.  Yet, for most people money has/is/will be more of an obstacle than an asset. You can change this, if you are willing to change the way you think. You first must ask yourself, “Do I want another product, or do I want a PLAN?”

I help You Create your experiences. I Teach It’s Better to Give than to Receive. I help you Live your dreams; Appreciate life and live in the WOW!

Your wealth is not defined by money alone. It is also the difference you make in the lives of those you care about and come in contact with.”

My philosophy is to protect everything you earn, implement a plan that works in any situation, and make sure you always have uninterrupted cash flow.

I worked for thirteen years for nonprofit and government agencies in public health, senior health, food access, food retail business consulting, and nutrition education in low-income communities. In 2019, I was a panelist at the U.S. Capitol Food Tank Summit to talk about food as medicine, food insecurity, and social disparities.

My passion has always been helping people improve their health and living circumstances. Having worked with low income populations my whole life, I’ve seen the struggles that people go through and a lack of financial guidance was a major factor. I made the decision to switch from helping people change health behaviors to changing financial behaviors and teaching financial fluency.

Todd Thomas

Financial Advisor, Envision Wealth

I often will tell people that I have had two careers in the financial professional world.

My first three years, which was just transactional in nature, and trying to sell as many products as I could. And then since 2004 doing what I love! I was very fortunate after I graduated from Wartburg College in 2003 to hit the ground running with Financial Architects.

Starting in 2004 I was blessed with a great mentor who had taught me early on it is not about a product. He would say often “if there was a magical financial product out there that made everyone wealthy, we would all own it!”

It did not take me long to fall in love with the powerful financial principles we were teaching on money decisions. I soon began asking everyone I encountered “If what you thought to be true turned out not to be, how soon would you want to know?”

My passion lies in helping people not fall into the pitfalls of ‘Traditional Financial Services’! I love working with young professionals and business owners, not only in Iowa but all throughout the country.

In my personal time, I enjoy being with my wife Candice and typically watching my two kids, Joe and Avery, in their activities.

I grew up a son of a coach, so many times you might catch me helping coach their activities, as it is in my blood.

If I have any free time (when the weather permits) you would probably find me on a golf course.

Tony Patterson

Financial Advisor, Envision Wealth

319-269-8487

tonypatterson@ewiowa.com

Often times, you may hear me jokingly say that I’ve been in the industry my entire life. As a youngster, I spent many nights and weekends hanging out at my father’s office as he grew his own financial strategies practice. After graduating from University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Economics and a couple years of small business management experience, I formally started in 2013 in the financial services industry.

In 2024, I formed Envision Wealth with 3 other partners. I was compelled to start Envision Wealth as I continued to work with business owners and professionals and realized a greater impact could be made in their financial world than I was previously providing. I've worked to close that gap and am more motivated than ever to help business owners with one of the biggest financial transactions of their life - exiting the business.  In addition, I have obtained extensive tools to help my clients with their savings and growth.

My passion lies in helping people get what they want in the most tax-efficient, risk mitigated way. I also love to help my clients creatively plan their retirement income beyond the traditional financial 'rules of thumb' strategies. I particularly enjoy working with small business owners and manufacturing employees in Iowa and the Midwest.

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Certified Exit Planner.  Each of these organizations require rigorous training for certification, on-going education, and a board of standards that enforces that I work in the best interest of those I work with.

In my personal time - I enjoy time with my wife and two daughters, playing golf, and riding my road bike or peloton. It doesn’t take much to get me into an intense board game, like Ticket to Ride or Settlers of Catan. I'm a fan of the NFL, specifically the 49ers.  In addition, you will find me supporting the UNI Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Liverpool FC.
